When Callide District was formed originally it consisted of five groups, hence the five stars of the Southern Cross were depicted on the Callide District Badge.

The Groups were Biloela, Monto, Moura, Theodore and Wowan. The Wowan group is now closed.

The Callide District is known for Coal Mining, Cattle, Callide Dam, Callide Power Station, Krombit National Park, Cania Gorge National Park, and the Dawson River.
